EVENT OVERVIEW
Since this ride is a benefit for Miracle Hill Ministries, the route will encompass three of Miracle Hill’s eight facilities housing the homeless. Our route will originate at Sirrine Stadium in Greenville, at the corner of University Ridge and Cleveland Street near the downtown area. The Century and Metric rides will start at 7:00 a.m. The 5-25 mile ride on the Swamp Rabbit Trail will leave at 8:00 a.m. and our Family ride in Cleveland Park will begin at 10:00 a.m. Our Century and Metric rides will go through Cleveland Park, out to Verdae before coming back to Miracle Hill Shepherd’s Gate, near Bob Jones. We will pass Miracle Hill Boys’ Shelter in Taylors before heading north over Paris Mountain. Once we cross Paris Mountain, the Century and Metric routes will wind around Furman University and pass through the Green Valley area then go through Travelers Rest to the Dacusville area. Our Century route will climb to the top of Caesar’s Head. After climbing to the top of Caesar’s Head, we will cycle down and take another route back to Greenville and return to Sirrine Stadium.
All rides will conclude with a meal, concert and family activities at Sirrine Stadium in Greenville. Riders, their families, sponsors and the news media are all invited to the post-ride meal and activities.
The 2012 Miracle Hill Cycling Challenge seeks to raise funds to help Miracle Hill Ministries. Miracle Hill Ministries cares for homeless and needy men, women and children across the Upstate of South Carolina. Each year Miracle Hill shelters and cares for approximately 6,000 different men, women and children through facilities in Greenville, Pickens, Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties.
Note: Century riders must be at the base of Caesar’s Head by 11:30 or will be asked to bypass Caesar’s head for time issues.
